Forks Over Knives

I personally love being on a plant based diet.

When we were at one of our most favorite places in Seattle, Thrive, last weekend we noticed a flier for Forks Over Knives.  Thrive is a vegetarian cafe in the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle, with a beckoning selection of raw foods that will arrest your taste buds at every bite.  The food is divine.  Not to mention “pro-bliss, pro-joy, pro-shine” and pro-vis.  You will see what I mean once you check it out and your body will thank you.

I am looking forward to seeing “Forks Over Knives” this weekend.  Having lost my amazing and dearly loved father to heart disease two years ago, I feel very passionately about educating people about their lifestyles and habits.  Oftentimes, people do not even know how great they could feel or that alternatives exist.  I hate to see anyone else suffer a loss so great so young.

Lifestyle diseases are avoidable.  Look at biochemist and National Academy of Sciences member (1972) Bruce Ames (of the famous Ames test developed in the 1970s).  He is still researching disease prevention at 82.

There are so many factors contributing to the downward spiral of our country’s health.  The media; the abundance of environmental toxins; our increasingly urbanized existence; the healthcare crisis; economic stress; the lack of primary care physicians and the lack of preventative measures that people take.  Federal licensure of Naturopathic Doctors would certainly be a step in the right direction.

I understand the natural progression of life, and I have a deep desire and calling to help others achieve as much comfort and ease in their lives as possible – regardless of what stage of life they are in.  Prevention and lifestyle choices are key.

I’m looking forward to taking a break from studying for finals this weekend to see “Forks Over Knives.”

Have you seen it?  If so I hope you found it inspiring and motivating :).
