What’s in a friend?

So another quarter down and just 2 away from my debut as an actual doctor.  What next?  You may ask …

I have been thinking a lot about how my life feels these days.  It’s very far from perfect, but noticeably easier and more fulfilling.  I’ve been wondering what is so different about and realized, it’s more than just the work I’m doing, it’s also the people in my life.  I don’t feel held to my bad days or every little thing I say; I don’t feel overanalyzed, shamed, often criticized or put down.  And I am the first to admit, I have been very lucky.

This post is a small thank you to all the wonderful people in my life. I don’t have many close friends, but those of you know who you are and you rock.  So thank you.  Your love is gold.

A friend is one whom you can pour out the contents of your heart, chaff and grain alike. Knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.

The annual fall butterfly fiesta of coastal New England.

Photos taken this fall in Maine.  Thousands of butterflies budding and taking flight amidst an ocean background is truly a gorgeous site.   And this gem, shared on my friend and future colleague Nafysa Parpia’s facebook wall (she is full of inspiration, that one), for all of my ND classmates.  Get ready to spread your wings in June!

Congrats on a another successful quarter friends!!  Time to celebrate!!

And a big thank you to everyone who signed our petition.  With over 25k signatures, the white house staff is now obligated to route our petition to the appropriate policy experts and respond.  Can’t wait to see what they have to say.  Fingers crossed!
